These terms are an agreement between you and Abdulaziz Alawwad ("Bookie", "we", "us") for using the Bookie app and website. By creating an account or using Bookie, you agree to them. If you use Bookie for a business, you agree on behalf of that business.

1. The service
Bookie is a cloud bookkeeping app for small businesses. It lets a business owner and their team record sales, expenses and cash movements, close each day, and see totals, insights and reports. Bookie works online: your records live on our servers and you need an internet connection to send them there and see your team's. An entry saved without a connection waits on the device until it reconnects, and is lost if the device is signed out or lost first.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 16, and old enough to enter a contract where you live.
- Give us an email address you control. You sign in with one-time codes sent to it, or with Apple or Google.
- Keep your email account and devices secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Each person can use Bookie on up to three devices at a time.
- Tell us straight away at [email protected] if you think someone else is using your account.
3. Businesses and teams
- The person who creates a business is its owner. The owner's subscription covers everyone they invite, and the owner decides who joins, what role they have, and which branches they can see.
- Owners are responsible for the people they invite and for having their permission to record information about them, as described in our Privacy Policy.
- Team members use Bookie under the owner's plan. If the owner's plan ends, or the owner removes them, they lose access to that business.
- Some team members use only the shop register, with a PIN and no account of their own. The owner is responsible for their use of Bookie and for telling them how their information is used.
- Once a day is closed, entries on it can no longer be changed, unless an owner or manager reopens the day and gives a reason. Entries are voided with a reason rather than deleted, so the history stays complete.
4. Subscriptions and free trials
- Bookie needs a paid subscription. Plans, prices and limits (people, branches and businesses) are shown in the app before you buy, and prices may vary by country and include tax where required.
- Every plan starts with a 3-day free trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your subscription starts and you are charged. On the App Store you must cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
- Subscriptions are bought and billed through the App Store or Google Play, and renew automatically each month or year until you cancel. You manage and cancel them in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. We can't issue refunds for store purchases ourselves.
- When you upgrade, the new plan starts straight away and the store credits what's left of your old one. When you downgrade, the change happens at your next renewal, and you may need to reduce your branches, businesses or team to fit the smaller plan.
- If a renewal payment fails, you have 3 days to fix it. After that, your businesses lock until the subscription is active again. Your records are kept.
- We may change prices. A new price applies from your next renewal after we, or the store, tell you about it, and you can cancel before then.
5. Your data
- The records you and your team put into Bookie belong to you (for a business, to its owner). We don't claim ownership of them.
- You give us permission to store, copy, process and show your records only as needed to run Bookie for you, as our Privacy Policy describes.
- You can export your records from the app at any time while your plan is active. Please keep your own copies of anything you must retain by law.
- You are responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of what you enter.
6. Acceptable use
Don't use Bookie to:
- break the law, including tax, money-laundering or sanctions laws, or record fraudulent transactions;
- upload anything you don't have the right to, or that is harmful or illegal;
- try to get into accounts, businesses or data that aren't yours, or get around plan or device limits;
- interfere with, overload, probe or reverse engineer the service, except where the law allows;
- resell or share access to Bookie outside your own business.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules, and will tell you why unless the law or safety prevents it.
7. Not financial or tax advice
Bookie helps you keep records. It does not give accounting, tax, legal or financial advice, and its totals, insights, Assistant answers and reports are only as accurate as the entries behind them. You remain responsible for your books, your tax filings and complying with the rules that apply to your business. Talk to a qualified professional where you need advice.
8. Availability and changes
We work hard to keep Bookie running, but we can't promise it will always be available or error free. It may be interrupted for maintenance, updates or reasons outside our control. We may change, add or remove features. If we make a change that significantly reduces what your paid plan includes, we will tell you in advance.
9. Ending your use
- You can stop using Bookie at any time. Cancel your subscription in the store, and delete your account in the app (in More, tap your name, then Delete account; if your plan has ended, Delete account on the plan page) or by emailing us.
- An account is deleted 30 days after you ask, and you can change your mind by signing in before then. After that, your account and the businesses you own, with all their records, are permanently erased and cannot be recovered. Export anything you need first.
- We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we have to by law. If we stop offering Bookie altogether, we will give you reasonable notice so you can export your records.
10. Disclaimers
To the extent the law allows, Bookie is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can't be limited by contract.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits, revenue or data, arising from your use of Bookie. Our total liability for any claim relating to Bookie is limited to the amount you paid for Bookie in the 12 months before the claim. These limits don't apply to liability that can't be limited by law, such as for fraud, or death or personal injury caused by negligence.
12. Indemnity
If you use Bookie for a business, you agree to cover our reasonable costs from claims by third parties, including your team members, that arise from your breach of these terms or the records you put into Bookie.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kuwait, and disputes will be handled by the courts of Kuwait. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live and can bring claims there.
14. App Store and Google Play
If you got Bookie from the Apple App Store:
- These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Bookie or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Bookie.
- If Bookie fails to meet any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Bookie.
- Apple is not responsible for any claims relating to Bookie, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection claims, or claims that it infringes someone's intellectual property. We are responsible for those, as these terms describe.
- You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a US government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and are not on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
If you got Bookie from Google Play, Google's terms for Google Play also apply to your purchase.
15. General
- Changes to these terms. We may update these terms. We will post the new version here and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using Bookie after that, the new terms apply.
- Whole agreement. These terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Bookie.
- Severability. If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
- No waiver. If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- Transfer. We may transfer these terms as part of a merger or sale of the business. You may not transfer them without our agreement.
